It’s not lost on me that I have a forever calm in the chaos that is life.

We had the opportunity to celebrate the wedding of one of my childhood friends this weekend. As I watched them exchange vows I felt so grateful that I was there, holding hands with Nick.

Life is relentless in trying to pull us into the uncertainty, fear and dysfunction that exists every where. When I feel myself getting sucked in, all I have to do is turn to this guy to remind me that we’ve built something that is strong enough to block it all out.

I’ve come to realize that my ability to be fully present is a huge privilege. It means there’s safety, support, and security in all of the other important places in my life.

My partnership is a huge part of what makes this possible for me and allowed me to care for my mom in the way I wanted to when she was hospitalized earlier this year.
