Today as part of we are highlighting Karin Wannamaker. Karin is a social worker in the BWH Behavioral Neurology department.

Karin says she became a social worker to “be a part of people creating tangible change in their lives in the face of whatever adversities they are encountering.” Karin adds, “It is an honor to offer a compassionate ear, suggest skills for their learning, and to bear witness to blossoming resiliency.”

Karin says working closely with individuals and families is what she enjoys most. “A close second is, working as part of an interdisciplinary team – both for clinical care and program development. Such an opportunity for learning! “

Karin offers this advice to those considering a social work career, “Tend to your own areas of wellness and continue your journey of self-discovery. Both of which will lend to your resiliency. It is also the work we are inviting our patients into through our partnership with them."
