The tailgate on a truck is more than just the door that provides access to the truck's bed!

It can also serve as a workstation, a party area, or even a place to take a nap. So, do you know how it's made?

Tailgates are constructed from two sheets of polymer sandwiching a flexible fiberglass woven mat. The entire assembly is then placed into a tailgate forming mold and molded into the inner and outer panels of the tailgate.

The binding that holds the two panels together gives the tailgate strength and durability. Just remember to inspect it for damage regularly and to take steps to prevent rusting.
