The Community Center - TCC
The Community Center is a welcoming space for LGBTQIA+ and allied organizations and individuals in the Treasure Valley. We help q***r folks find belonging and community by providing fun and meaningful events and support groups at our facility and beyond. And we help inform folks about other local LGBTQIA+ events and resources, run a q***r lending library with over 3,600 titles, and run a food pantry for community members experiencing food insecurity.

For June, the LGBTQIA+ book club read A Psalm for the Wild Built by Becky Chambers. We continued our trend of introducing folks to new genres - this is ‘solar punk’, which many found delightful. We like to do softer books for Pride month and this one did not disappoint. It’s a sweet story between a tea monk and robot. It’s more character than plot driven, focusing on the relationship they develop. While it’s a short book and an easy read, it also offers philosophical questions about our potential future. We had some deep discussion points on these topics. It paired nicely with the tea service we hosted for ourselves, in theme with the book. Overall, folks enjoyed having a nice gentle story for this month - our group gave this book 4.5 stars.
Join us virtually next month for Sister, Maiden, Monster by Lucy A. Snyder. It promises to be a delightfully weird, horror book. We look forward to seeing you there!
