Diatomaceous earth is a go to in my garden. It’s an organic pest control measure that works on hard bodied pests like squash bugs and beetles. It doesn’t do a thing for any kind of worm, caterpillars or slugs but for those hard bodied pests, it’s very effective.

It works as long as it stays dry for you if you get rain or a beach dew, you’ll need to reapply. I also don’t apply to any flowers or blossoms to limit its impact on pollinators.

Bonus tip… save that Parmesan cheese shaker and give it a new life in the garden. It works great for applying DE!
