Sacroiliac Joint Dysfunction- estimated to be cause of up to 30% low back pain.
Causes: SIJ pain often originates from nerve irritation, fluid buildup, misalignment of the joint, or micro-tears in the ligaments responsible for providing stability.

Exercise Recommendations: the sacrum is shock absorber of our bodies. Stabilizing pelvis and lumbar spine is key when area is unstable. Releasing compression on lumbar and sacrum can relieve pain if area is tight and rigid. Treatments SIJ pain often responds well to avoidance of extension. Pain free movement is always our goal.
Standing Hip Extension for sacroiliac issues. Sound on for verbal cues: 10 reps each leg for 3 cycles.
Starting position. Bend both knees slightly to release lumbar spine out of extension.
Movement Technique:
Push left hand down into foam roller. Right hand on low abdominals. Pull abdominals away from tee shirt and hand..
Bring right leg into hip extension. Hollow abs throughout. Avoid lumbar extension and engage Glutes and Hamstrings.
This series trains you to avoid instability and lumbar extension while walking and standing to reduce discomfort.
