The median monthly housing cost in Palm Beach County is 40% of a household's monthly income. However, when transportation costs are added, the average percentage of household income spent on housing and transportation is 66%.
Income gap
The income gap between the top and bottom 20% of households has increased over the past decade. Households in the bottom 20% have a negative net worth, while those in the top 20% have seen a significant increase in median net worth.
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Palm Beach County has built 11 affordable housing units and has 8 more under construction. They also run a Homeownership Program to help families own their homes.
