FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Florida Judge Sides with Mota in $230M Globe Lawsuit
Reporter Amanda Milkovits accused of defamation; court clears path for trial.
Palm Beach County, FL -- July 2, 2025
In a significant legal development highlighting rising public concerns about media accountability, a
Florida judge has denied a motion by The Boston Globe and reporter Amanda Milkovits to dismiss a
$230 million defamation and tortious interference case filed by Rhode Island entrepreneur and
philanthropist Michael Mota. The ruling allows the case to proceed in Florida, where the court upheld
Mota's right to pursue his claims in his chosen forum.
The lawsuit accuses The Boston Globe of publishing twelve articles by Milkovits that allegedly
contain defamatory and false statements portraying Mota as a 'mobster' and an untrustworthy businessman. According to the complaint, the coverage interfered with major real estate transactions in both Florida and Rhode Island, with alleged total losses of $230 million -- including $180 million in Florida alone.
The court emphasized that both Rhode Island and Florida were adequate forums, but ruled that the
case may proceed in Florida, citing a strong presumption in favor of the plaintiff's forum choice and the significant connection to alleged harm within the state. "This case is bigger than me," said Mota. "It's about pushing back against powerful media outlets that use the shield of journalism to promote narratives and destroy reputations. I'm thankful the court saw the facts and allowed us to move forward."
Mota, a successful educator, entrepreneur, and philanthropist, is widely known for his innovative
ventures and vocal support of President Donald J. Trump -- a factor that played into his decision to
retain Trump's longtime friend and attorney, Peter Ticktin.
"This is a matter of accountability," said Ticktin, founder of The Ticktin Law Group. "For too long,
legacy media institutions have operated without oversight, often serving partisan interests over
public truth. That ends here. We intend to prove these defamatory claims were not just reckless, but
deliberate."
The ruling marks a significant legal step for Mota and reflects broader concerns among Americans
about unchecked media narratives. With public trust in traditional outlets declining, this case
underscores a growing national demand for transparency and responsibility in journalism.
The defendants have been ordered to file an answer to the complaint within ten days of the court's
ruling.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Virtual365 Founder Fights Boston Globe Reporterās Continuing to Write āFalse and Defamatoryā Stories About Him Now Up to 25, Some Even After He Filed a Lawsuit
Boca Raton, Florida, March 11th, 2025- Michael Mota, a hugely successful entrepreneur and founder of businesses including Atom Media and Virtual365, made headlines earlier this year for his high-profile defamation lawsuit against The Boston Globe and reporter Amanda Milkovits.
Mota retained renowned attorney Peter Ticktin to sue the Boston Globe claiming it published more than 25 false and defamatory articles Milkovits wrote about him.
Mota said he hired Ticktin to defend himself against the onslaught of defamatory articles as Ticktin is recognized for his experience in representing leading figures in hi-profile cases such as Samantha Markle and his lifelong friend, President Trump.
The Ticktin Law Group filed the lawsuit last year in Palm Beach County, alleging Milkovitsā unethical portrayal of Mota as a criminal con-artist has done irreparable damage to his career and caused financial losses well over one hundred million dollars.
Even after the filing, Mota said the reporter kept writing scathing untrue articles about him, including breaking into a members only page for a private beach club that Mota was about to purchase maliciously causing torturous interference of a business deal.
Mota calls the Boston Globe reporterās efforts a clear interference and āstalkerā like behavior, which Ticktin is combating.
āThis continued assault on my character by Milkovits is truly vile,ā said Mota. āEven as we move forward with court proceedings, she continues to drag me through the mud and Iāll fight her lies to the end.ā
āIām truly dismayed Milkovits continues to defame my client, even in the face of a large-scale lawsuit against her and The Boston Globe,ā said Ticktin.
