Executive functioning skills play a crucial role in achieving success in college. A young man who initially disregarded these skills experienced poor academic performance, which led him to contemplate dropping out. However, after receiving coaching focused on organization, time management, and task completion, he was able to enhance his independence and avoid failure.
College life requires not only strong academic abilities but also a level of responsibility, decision-making, and self-management. Many students face challenges such as procrastination and time management difficulties. Research indicates that a significant number of students struggle in these areas, which can hinder their overall progress.
By developing executive functioning skills, students can create a better balance between fun and responsibility, thereby reducing stress and minimizing setbacks. The College Life Skills Program (CLSP) implements various strategies, including maintaining a planner, utilizing timers, staying on task, and completing assignments, to help students enhance their executive functioning skills.
The CLSP provides professional support to empower young adults in their college journey and beyond, equipping them with essential skills for independence and emotional maturity.
