Melasma is a common skin condition that causes brown patches on the face, usually on the cheeks, forehead, chin and upper lip.
It's often triggered by hormonal changes, sun exposure, or even certain medications.
Sunlight is a big culprit, as it causes the skin to make more pigment, which can darken existing melasma and cause new patches. Applying a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) throughout the day will be your best friend!π
To improve results, I often recommend adding one or more of the following to your treatment plan:
π§ͺ Chemical peel: This can help remove excess pigment.
π Microneedling: As the skin heals, it tends to have a more even skin tone.
β‘οΈ Laser and light treatments: A few studies have found that adding a laser or light treatment can improve results.

Summer comes with pool parties, beach trips, catching flights and heat! While we love the fun, we must also address the effects.
First up, sweat. As a natural cooling mechanism, sweat is essential, but when it mixes with bacteria and oils on your skin, it can lead to clogged pores and breakouts. Post-workout or after a hot day outside, cleanse your skin to keep it fresh and clear. πββοΈπΏ
Next, the beach. Nothing beats the feel of saltwater on your skin, but it can be drying, stripping away your skin's natural oils. Always rinse your skin after a swim in the ocean and follow up with a hydrating moisturizer. ποΈπ§
On to air travel. The recycled, low-humidity air in planes can leave your skin feeling dry and dull. To combat this, stay hydrated, consider a hydrating facial mist, and apply a moisturizer or barrier cream to lock in moisture. βοΈπ§΄
Lastly, pool days. Chlorine can disrupt your skin's natural balance, leading to dryness and irritation. Rinse off as soon as you get out of the pool and follow up with a calming, hydrating skincare routine. πββοΈπ
Remember, summer should be a time for fun and relaxation. With a little knowledge and the right skincare routine, you can help your skin stay as happy as you are this season! Here's to a summer of beautiful skin! βοΈπ₯

Today, we're tackling a topic that's as changeable as the weather - because it IS the weather! Ever wondered how humidity levels in Florida affect your skin? Well, let's dive in! βοΈπ§
High-humidity days can feel like you're wearing a mask of moisture. That's because when the air is heavy with water, your skin's natural oil production can go into overdrive, leading to a shiny complexion and potentially clogged pores. But don't despair, it's also a chance for your skin to stay well-hydrated! Just be sure to keep up with your cleansing routine to keep that excess oil in check. π¦οΈβ¨
On the flip side, low humidity can feel like it's sucking the moisture straight out of your skin. This lack of moisture in the air can lead to dryness, flakiness, and even exacerbate fine lines and wrinkles. So, on these days, make sure to up your hydration game - both inside and out! Think hydrating serums, moisturizers, and don't forget to drink plenty of water. π΅π¦
Your skin's needs can shift with the weather, but with a little awareness and the right skincare arsenal, you can help your skin weather any storm, or drought, that comes its way. Here's to understanding our skin a little better, one weather forecast at a time! βοΈπ
