Today we want to thank our Set Free Team for the amazing job they did fostering Dragon and Iris (now Odin and Zero).
Jen, Pastor Ryan and family did not have experience fostering dogs for us prior to getting them into the Prison Training Program.
They had only fostered dogs after the Prison Training Program.
Taking on two pups is a lot of work. Now add on fostering two pups with Giardia 🫣
They did an amazing job providing love, starting their training and getting them through their Giardia treatment so that they could be medically cleared and finally go to the Prison and Firehouse Programs.
Our goal is to send dogs healthy and clear of any parasites or other medical concerns so that our dogs can be their best selves in training.
There are no short cuts here.
Thank you Set Free Team and to our other handful of fosters who have stepped up to make rescuing dogs possible. We can only foster one dog at a time ourselves so fosters are the only way we can help more dogs.
Fostering is temporary. We ask for a short term commitment while dogs are medically cleared to go into either training program. We provide all the supplies, food and cover the medical/vetting.
Please consider joining us so that we can save more lives.
All of our work is funded through the generosity of our supporters and through the work of all of us volunteers.
We’re not government funded. There are no grants. It’s our small but loyal community that make big things happen.
Thank you.

Not too long ago, came across Joedy and her owner. They’re unhoused and were in need of vaccines and a wagon for Joedy due to how hot it is in the desert.
Mary reached out to us and we agreed to help as best we could. We made a wishlist and so many of you donated via Joedys wishlist so that Mary could take toys, treats, the much needed wagon and other supplies to them.
Thank you for donating the wagon and to all of you who donated the rest of the items to bring comfort and joy to this puppy.
The owner does not want to relinquish her as she is all he has but is doing his best to take care of her.
Sometimes giving a lending hand is all we can do. And sometimes that means so much to someone in need.
Thank you for reaching out to us and letting us know about them and for having a big heart.

Adult dogs are our favorite dogs to rescue. With the current dog and shelter crisis, we’ve noticed more and more adult dogs who are being dumped or given up on have some sort of training. Whether these dogs have basic obedience or something more, it is imperative that we expand our evaluations.
When we go out and evaluate, it often takes the whole day because we are so far from the dogs we rescue. Having a suit will help us create a more balanced evaluation so that we can gather more information on the dogs and be able to continue to place them in suitable homes.
If you have a suit you can donate, please reach out. We are happy to provide a tax receipt. Or if you have one at a discounted price, we’d like to hear from you too.
Thank you .pack for the flyer 🐾

We were contacted by Riverside County Sheriff today about a lost puppy.
His legs are tired and he’s exhausted. He probably ran from home after last nights fireworks.
We agreed to temp foster him until help is found.
We offered him a bully stick, water and AC. Sometimes that’s all it takes to help. Community working together.
If anyone knows who this pup belongs to or if you are the owner please reach out. He’s clearly someone’s dog. Let’s get him back home safe and sound before tonight’s fireworks.
Please remember to always microchip your dogs and always have an ID tag on them. These simple measures always help for a faster reunion.

It’s Firehouse Friday (kinda) 🚒
As the last wave of MHR dogs graduated and are going home, the next wave of dogs have made it to the Firehouse and Prison programs.
These programs and the media that we have shared with you all has allowed us to find our dogs suitable forever homes.
These programs are working.
In case you’re new here, MHR send the first 6 dogs to the Prison Program at ISP over a year ago. Since then we have not only rehabilitated dogs but their handlers have found a new sense of purpose and have rehabilitated with the dogs too.
MHR and the Firehouse at Station 76 began the FIRST Firehouse Training Program in the STATE.
We’d love to expand but every program and every expansion requires volunteers and funding.
Our rescue is not government funded and we are responsible for transportation, medical clearance and vetting of the dogs, training, supplies, treats, and food. We’re responsible for it all.
These programs and any future expansion rely on our supporters.
Today please consider skipping the coffee and making a $5 tax deductible contribution to help us keep going.
To those that have always supported us, thank you for making second chances possible!

Today we took a ~300 mile round trip.
So much goes into rescuing responsibly and into giving the dogs we rescue a real second chance. Check out our subscribers only on Instagram to see what we were up to. 🐾
