🚔 Welcome to Blythe CHP! 🚔

The California Highway Patrol Blythe Area is proud to welcome two new officers to our team.

Officer Rice is a 2017 graduate of Palo Verde High School. After high school, he played Division I baseball at California State University, Bakersfield, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. Officer Rice graduated from the CHP Academy in January 2025 and spent his first year and a half serving the residents of the Willows Area before transferring to Blythe.

Law enforcement runs deep in Officer Rice’s family. His father proudly served the Blythe Area from 1987 until his retirement in 2012, and his brother has served the Blythe Area since 2015. We are honored to welcome another generation of the Rice family to Blythe CHP.

Officer Troncoso is a graduate of Central Union High School. Following high school, he proudly served in the United States Army. Officer Troncoso also graduated from the CHP Academy in January 2025 and spent his first year and a half assigned to the Hayward Area before joining the Blythe team.

Please join us in welcoming Officers Rice and Troncoso to the Blythe Area. Their backgrounds, dedication to service, and commitment to the communities we serve make them outstanding additions to our team.
