As your support group leader, I wanted to share this article and share this happened to my family too. I was quite about this 1 year ago. But now I’m ready to share. Here is our story:

This is absolutely heartbreaking and my daughter and I (and her dad) can relate, as this also happened numerous of times throughout her high school cheering days.

We pressed charges when this happened again her senior year when “teammates”scattered/ smeared peanut products all in my daughter’s locker, cheer outfit, and belongings.

I am a HUGE advocate and I had given them plenty of opportunities within the last 4 years (more if you count back to elementary days) to understand the severity and consequences of their actions, thus us pressing charges with law enforcement. No one should be bullied. No one should have to be fearful for their safety/life.

Sadly, all the “teammate” received was 6 months of community service. During juvenile court, the judge, per my request, made the “teammate” do education on food allergies However, when I called the District Attorney’s office, they never answered if the teammate followed through. As far as the school, they gave the “teammate” 1 week of OSS. And kick the “teammate” off the squad. And the school told me they couldn’t tell me who was all involved as it was privacy. I had to find out by the District Attorney office AFTER the school turned it over to them.

I would like to add- this is not a joke. This is life threatening to those with severe food allergies.
