Children who receive their meals at school and have little or nothing to eat on the weekends and during school vacatio
We're wrapping up our first week of the Summer Meals program, and groceries are already heading out into the community and into the hands of families who need them most.
One of our longtime volunteers, Barbara Davenport, experienced something new this week, delivering Summer Meals for the very first time after 7 years of packing:
"What a wonderful morning with so many amazing volunteers! Thank you for letting me deliver bags to this sweet family. I introduced myself to their three young boys when I delivered their food. It touched my heart to actually see who receives what we pack each week, not simply putting food into a bag and bags into a cart. It puts a whole different light on packing for me ❤️❤️."
There is so much impact behind every bag of groceries we pack and deliver. Thank you to everyone who helped us start the summer off strong!

This , we’re recognizing a partner who has been with us from the very beginning.
Mercier Orchards donates nearly 8 tons of apples each school year. This year alone, they gifted our program 324 bushels, valued at $11,340.
Because of their generosity, Snack in a Backpack children receive fresh, local food week after week. During the school year, each child in our program receives two Mercier apples in their weekly bag, something we would not otherwise have the resources to provide at this scale.
Yesterday, we had the opportunity to thank them in person and present a small token of our appreciation. 🍎❤️
If you’re looking for a way to take action and fight local hunger today, please donate to our Summer Meals Program!
You can give online at snackinabackpack.org or by mail at PO Box 2125, Blue Ridge, GA 30513. Thank you! 🌞

Yesterday, we joined partners from across the region at the Chattanooga Area Food Bank’s Hunger Relief Partner Conference.
Sessions throughout the day focused on honoring our neighbors and identifying ways to bridge gaps in access to food and resources.
Our Executive Director, Debby Beck, participated in a panel discussion on student hunger, highlighting the ongoing need to support children and families beyond the school day. We’re grateful to be part of this network!
