Lucy Regueyra honors the wishes of her late husband, Dr. Francisco Regueyra, through her endowment of the Dr. Francisco and Lucille Regueyra Scholarship Fund.
“Supporting scholarships felt like the appropriate thing to do. That was Frank’s wish, and I want that carried out,” Lucy says.
Lucy’s generosity ensures that future generations of aspiring nurses can attend Mercy College of Ohio.
“Frank was an excellent physician and Mercy College of Ohio is an excellent school,” she says. “He always said the Mercy nurses were the best he ever worked with.”
Lucy views the scholarship fund as a way to help the next Francisco Regueyra. Her husband fled the Cuban revolution in 1961 and overcame much to become a physician.
“If you ever have a tragic moment in your life, you want people to be there to support you. That is what the scholarship does — it helps people when they need financial help,” she says.

Tim and Kayla Kiedrowski are lifelong Lorain County residents. Their roots go back generations. In fact, long before they officially met, Tim and Kayla likely crossed paths many times. Her grandfather’s chiropractic office was just three doors down from the Kiedrowski’s family bakery.
“It’s a small reminder of how closely connected our community truly is,” Tim says.
Donor gifts to support health care in Lorain County shows they also value a closely connected community. Tim and Kayla benefited from their generosity when Kayla gave birth to their daughter at the Veard Family Birthing Center.
“We were very impressed with the environment and the quality of care it offered,” says Tim. “Kayla and our daughter were cared for with compassion, dignity and respect throughout the entire experience.”
Tim is proud that such a high-quality, dedicated birthing center exists in Lorain. He also knows that donors like you are the reason why.
“We feel extremely grateful,” says Tim. “It demonstrates how deeply our community cares about the continued advancement of our region. It is inspiring to know that donors are committed to sustaining this essential resource. Families continue to access high-quality maternity care close to home because of it.”
