I remember sitting on the floor of Eric Van Cleef’s room in the sweltering summer before 8th grade listening to purple for the first time. A couple of latchkey kids with no supervision. Even then I knew he was going to go the way of Scott Weiland (pictured) one day—which he did in 2012 after a long battle. Between treatment facilities and relapses I’d stop by his grandmas or his dad’s and we’d sit on the porch and play this song together. Hope it doesn’t hurt any more my friend.
