Rwanda 🇷🇼 is introducing a rent‑to‑own housing plan to help low‑income families become homeowners.

In this programme, tenants pay regular rent plus a small extra amount that goes towards owning the home over time.

It starts in the Mpazi and Nyabisindu areas of Kigali, where families may own their homes after about 20 years.

The scheme includes government support and more affordable financing to make homeownership easier for people who can’t access traditional mortgages.

This past year was marked by numerous remarkable achievements and special moments. A major highlight was witnessing our former IU Books & Beyond students and current TRP volunteers visit former partner schools and make generous and thoughtful donations. It was particularly heartening to see them establish new connections and collectively celebrate their outstanding accomplishments. We extend our sincerest gratitude for your unwavering dedication and commitment to our Rwandan friends and communities. Umwaka Mushya Muhire!

This summer, before the return of our students, the TRP team completed another full renovation at the Kabuga Primary School. As we begin our transition to building with more durable materials, we also introduced our first set of metal swings. We hope that within a year or two, our project will begin incorporating a full set of metal exercise equipment provided to each public school in the Cyuve District.
