Powderly Branch - Birmingham Public Library System

On May 15, 2026, adults gathered at the library for an afternoon of creativity and fun as they transformed ordinary flower pots into colorful, one-of-a-kind works of art using fabric and Mod Podge. Participants mixed and matched vibrant patterns, learned the basics of decoupage, and gave plain terracotta pots a fresh new look. The program offered a relaxing opportunity to socialize, explore a new crafting technique, and turn simple materials into something beautiful and functional. By the end of the afternoon, everyone left with a personalized flower pot ready to brighten a windowsill, patio, or garden—and perhaps with a little inspiration for their next DIY project.

On May 28, young heroes and comic book fans gathered at the library to put their knowledge to the test during our Comic Book Trivia Challenge!

Participants faced questions ranging from classic superheroes and iconic villains to comic book history and behind-the-scenes creators. The competition was fierce, but everyone had a great time showing off their comic book expertise, learning new facts, and celebrating their favorite characters.
