Avondale Library - Birmingham Public Library System
At the turn of the 20th century, Andrew Carnegie, the industrialist and philanthropist, donated $10,000 to the city of Avondale to build a library. The beautiful building lasted 50 years, at which time the City of Birmingham and the library board recognized the need for a new building.
