Eating With Amy

Why settle for one hidden gem when you can discover TWO under the same roof? Amy & I recently had dinner at 2 Pesos Cantina followed by dessert at Carlos 1960 Homemade Ice Cream, the charming homemade ice cream shop tucked inside the 2 Pesos restaurant. This is the perfect one-stop destination for a memorable dining experience!

🍋‍🟩🍤🥑We started with Ceviche featuring shrimp marinated in lime with avocado, onions & tomatoes. This dish is bright & refreshing. It’s excellent on a hot summer day. The shrimp was so fresh & tender.

🔥This was the best version of Camerones à la Diabla I’ve ever tasted! The pan sautéed shrimp were huge & covered in flavorful garlic chipotle butter sauce. If you love spicy food, don’t skip this one!

🍽️Amy had the juicy chicken dish, Pechuga à la Parrilla which features a grilled chicken breast topped with seasonal veggies & mushrooms & salsa de Molcajete. She said the chicken was grilled to perfection & very fresh.

🍨🥭After dinner, we took a few short steps to enter Carlos 1960. This colorful ice cream shop is worth the visit alone! They offer many treats from popsicles, banana splits, milkshakes & more. I couldn’t resist the gansito ice cream featuring chunks of vanilla cake with strawberry jam & rich chocolate. The ice cream was unbelievable creamy, super fresh & bursting with sweet strawberry flavor. Amy had a mangonada with tangy homemade mango sorbet topped with salty Tajin & spicy candies. This was a deliciously fun blend of sweet heat!

2️⃣Two local gems, one address! I loved 2 Pesos & Carlos 1960. Both spaces have their own unique charm. The restaurant is relaxed, comfortable & they offer a full bar. When you step into Carlos 1960, it’s bright & cheerfully delightful. Service is friendly in both spots (thank you, Myra & Emily!).
