Tonight was special in more ways than one.

Most people do not know this, but back in January I broke my ankle/leg in three places. That fall came with new hardware, a season of not walking, and a recovery journey that tested me physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.

I went from not walking, to a scooter, to slowly moving again with a cane. But God knows how to slow you down.

Through it all, my community showed up. They prayed for me, checked on me, drove me, helped me, encouraged me, and let me randomly ugly cry.

Tonight, I was finally well enough to drive and attend an event where I received an award from the City of Birmingham OBDO. To be recognized as an innovator means more than I can fully put into words.

I am grateful for healing, community, recognition, purpose, and every person who has been part of this journey.

God is good, and I am thankful. 🙏🏽

Now excuse me while I go bubble wrap myself. Walking it out daily 💕🤣

Happy Birthday Grammy!! 96 years young! Words cannot begin to express what my grandmother means to me. I’ll have to write a book about our adventures and the lessons. My grandmother was my first teacher of expression, literally putting a typewriter in front of me to type out how I felt. I owe so much of who I am to my grandmother. We are so blessed to have such an amazing incredible woman as our grandmother. My Big Mootsie Happy Birthday!! 💕💕
