BSACF Spotlight on Education:
Amber Nikole Hallford, a 2025 graduate of Forsan High School, received a $3,300 Scholarship from the Big Spring Area Community Foundation. She is the daughter of Billy and Cecilia Hallford and recently completed her freshman year at Howard College, where she is pursuing a cosmetology license.
Reflecting on the past year, Amber said one highlight was meeting new people and forming lasting friendships. Looking ahead, she plans to earn her cosmetology license and participate in continuing education courses to stay current with the latest styles and techniques, allowing her to provide the best possible service to her future clients.
The Big Spring Area Community Foundation is proud to support students like Amber as they pursue their educational goals, and we wish her continued success.

On April 17, 2026, representatives from the Big Spring Area Community Foundation, Texas Parks and Wildlife, the City of Big Spring, and members of the Stripling and Mouton families gathered for the dedication of the Hayes Stripling, Sr. Memorial Dock. The inscription on the plaque reads:
“Hayes Stripling, Sr. was a respected gentleman and an avid fisherman. Affectionately known as ‘Papa Hayes,’ he often brought his grandchildren to Comanche Trail Lake to teach them to fish and to share the simple beauty of time spent on the water. In his honor, his children and grandchildren established the Hayes Stripling, Sr. Memorial Fund through the Big Spring Area Community Foundation to support and enhance the fishing areas at the lake. This dock was made possible through a grant from that fund, a grant from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, and support from the City of Big Spring.”
The Big Spring Area Community Foundation is proud to be part of something that will benefit generations to come and wishes to thank all involved, particularly the Mouton and Stripling families, for their contributions to the fishing pier and kayak launch.
