It’s such an easy trap to fall into, but we have to stop comparing our bodies to what they were 5, 10, 15+ years ago. It’s toxic, it’s not helpful, and too often it’s actually harmful.
Bodies are supposed to change. Your 40-year-old body should not look like your 20 year old body did. It is doing different things, you are at a different point in your life, you have different needs.
If you need to exercise compulsively, monitor every bite that goes into your mouth, drastically restrict your calories, then your body is not supposed to look like that anymore.
It’s time to start appreciating our bodies for all the amazing things that they do. It’s time to stop fighting our bodies. It’s time to embrace the fact that our bodies change and there are reasons for that change.
