The Court of Appeal recently examined whether someone who posts allegedly false statements on the internet about pending litigation can be sued for defamation. Getfugu, Inc. v. Patton Boggs LLP (Case No. B231794) (Cal. App., 2nd Dist., Div. 3, October 3, 2013). In Getfugu, the court answered this question in the affirmative, holding that such statements can support a claim for against the person posting the statements. This case serves as a reminder that parties should refrain from attempting to litigate their case in the press or on , particularly if the statements are known to be false. Coming Soon
