My name is Anna, I’m 36 years old, and live in Syracuse, NY. I am a mom to a 13‑year‑old boy and an 11‑year‑old girl. I was diagnosed with Lichen Sclerous two years ago after having a spot that was so itchy. I just knew something was wrong. I had two in‑office biopsies on that spot, which tested negative.
I was directed to continue using the steroid cream, but the spot kept getting worse, which is why I insisted on surgical removal. It was then discovered it was v***ar cancer. Three months later, another spot arose and was removed. Again, v***ar cancer. This time my lymph nodes were checked, and there was small, confirmed spread to the lymph nodes, which put me at Stage 3.
In under a year, I have had six v***ar surgeries, and I just completed six weeks of radiation, six weekly chemotherapy treatments, and I have to continue with immunotherapy shots every three weeks for two years. I knew something wasn’t right, even after multiple negative biopsies. I kept advocating for myself until I was diagnosed with Stage 3 v***ar cancer. My case is also non‑HPV, furthering confusion as to “why is this happening.”
My advice to others: Trust your body, speak up, and don’t be afraid to seek another opinion. Your persistence could save your life — mine did.

"I'm currently battling Stage 4 V***ar Cancer. I finished 34 treatments of radiation as of yesterday, and I got to ring the bell with my doctor, Dr. Voorhees along with supptive staff, family, and friends. The staff were the most supportive!
Ladies please get checked and don't stop until you get answers when something is wrong. I went through this for over 7 years until I was properly diagnosed in December. This definitely needs to be discussed and shared more! Its time to be open and drop the shameful stigma!
Blessings to all and may God lay His miraculous healing hands upon all those fighting the fight before, during, and after." 💜

From Dr Amanda Selk, OB/GYN
I see this all the time.
Someone has been treating a “yeast infection” over and over, but nothing is getting better.
Sometimes it really is yeast.
But sometimes it’s something completely different.
That’s why if your symptoms keep coming back or aren’t improving, it’s worth getting a careful examination instead of just trying another antifungal treatment.
💬 Have you ever been treated for a yeast infection that turned out to be something else?
