When a trust distributes income to a beneficiary, it's supposed to deduct that amount.

Under the new rule, it can't fully deduct it.

So the trust owes tax on money it already sent out.

The beneficiary owes tax on the same money they received.

One dollar. Taxed twice.

Trusts hit the top tax bracket at $16,000 in income.

A single person doesn't hit it until $640,600.
