Photos from Berwyn Fire Company's post 06/23/2026

The Berwyn Fire Company has kept busy to start the week with over 20 calls dispatched today. The heavy rain and winds experienced late this afternoon into the early evening left a lot of cleanup and power outages to deal with.

The Public Works Departments from Tredyffrin and Easttown, along with PennDOT are all out dealing with clearing trees and limbs from the roadways. The Chesterbrook, Glenhardie and Brookmead Farms sections of Tredyffrin saw a lot of activity after the storm passed.

* GENERAL STORM SAFETY TIPS *

• Do not pass barricades, traffic cones, flares or caution tape. Seek an alternative route of travel.
• Do not use candles to light your home if you lost power. Flashlights are a safer option.
• Call 9-1-1 if you smell any electrical burning smells in your home, which can sometimes occur after power surges during these types of storm events.
• Always assume power lines are live. This applies to power lines on utility poles as well as those entering your home or buildings. Even momentary contact can injure or kill.
• Always keep yourself, your equipment and anything you carry at least 10 feet from power lines. Even though you may notice a covering on a line, NEVER assume it is safe to touch. Stay Away, Stay Alive!

* DOWNED POWER LINES & POWER OUTAGE INFORMATION *

If at any time you see downed power lines on fire or arching, or suspect an unsafe electric condition; please avoid the area immediately and then call 9-1-1 and PECO at 1-800-841-4141. DO NOT CALL 9-1-1 to tell them your power is out. This is not an emergency.

* DEBRIS OR TREES BLOCKING THE ROADWAY *

If you see any trees or debris impeding roadways, please contact Tredyffrin Township at 610-408-3620 or Easttown Township at 610-687-3000.

* ARE YOU USING A GENERATOR TO POWER YOUR HOUSE? *

• Generators should be operated in well ventilated locations outdoors away from all doors, windows and vent openings.
• Never use a generator in an attached garage, even with the door open.
• Place generators so that exhaust fumes can't enter the home through windows, doors or other openings in the building.
• Make sure you have working carbon monoxide (CO) alarms in your home.
• Turn off generators and let them cool down before refueling. Never refuel a generator while it is running.
• Store fuel for the generator in a container that is intended for the purpose and is correctly labeled as such. Store the containers outside of living areas.

Thank you to the Tredyffrin Township Police Department, Easttown Township Police Department, Paoli Fire Company, Radnor Fire Company, Upper Merion Township Fire & EMS, Newtown Square Fire Company and Valley Forge Volunteer Fire Co. for their assistance.
