Happy International Women’s Day from the LRC!

Today, we’re spotlighting California-based Chicanx artist, activist, and educator Yolanda López, whose artwork explores the experiences and intersections of Chicanx womanhood, including in the spheres of the working-class, generational relationships, political struggles, and higher education. Jill Dawsey, the curator of an exhibit honoring López’s work at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego claims that “Her [López’s] priority was always her politics and ethical commitments. She never catered to the institutional art world, which has notoriously neglected Chicano artists”.
