PoHe is back for the upcoming Spring season!
The PoHe committee is so excited to be back, and we can’t wait to get this train going. PoHe’s focus this year is to foster a safe space for students to explore higher education, while also providing alternative pathways in their journeys. With that, another goal for this year’s PoHe is to create a community that supports one another even after our four-day program. The four-day and two-night experience is filled with educational and community-bonding workshops to give Hmong-identifying high school students an outlet outside of their personal lives. This year, we are looking for Hmong-identifying students from Northern and Central parts of California. The program is all expenses paid for and will take place on April 9-12, 2025, with one virtual day and three in-person days. PoHe will push students with a new kind of motivation to open doors for future generations.
This year’s theme is: “Txhawb Nqa: Uplifting Our Community Through Higher Education.” In honor of HSAB’s mentorship program, we are reusing the name to revive it. This year’s theme takes a deeper look into our Hmong heritage and stories. Our stories are passed down from one generation to the next and continue to affect us in an ever-changing modern society. Although higher education is one pathway, we will also highlight other avenues, such as trade schools, community colleges, and more. In an effort to support the Hmong community, no matter which path you take.
With community,
The PoHe Committee
