All of us are united by a desire to better our communities and to help those who have fewer advantages than we have or disabilities and to model the value of unselfish service to youth both by assisting them and by involving them in our activities. The Berkeley Lions sponsor the Berkeley Women’s Daytime Drop-In Center, which provides a safe and supportive daytime refuge for homeless women and children. We also support the Oakland Blind Center and participate in projects with Rebuilding Together, which helps preserve affordable housing by bringing volunteers and communities together to rehabilitate the homes of low-income homeowners. We also deliver food baskets, with the Berkeley Fire Department, to the needy and elderly during the winter holidays, and we provide funds and other assistance for worthy groups on a per-case basis.
