On 2 July, Lobga Rangzen self-immolated in front of the United Nations Headquarters in New York, calling for the freedom and independence of Tibet. His final words to us were not of grief but of resolution: to continue the struggle he gave everything for.
Since then, Tibetans and supporters of Tibet across the world have answered that call- protests and gatherings in candlelight vigils from New York to Ladakh to Tokyo.
Call for Action:
Mobilise: Take part in the Global Day of Action on 2 August.
Speak Up: Tell your elected representatives to demand that China repeal the “Ethnic Unity Law”.
Bhod Gyalo! Bhod Rangzen Gyalo!
Victory to Tibet! Victory to Tibetan independence!

The death of Tibetan activist Lobga Rangzen is a tragic reminder of the devastating human cost of China’s policies in occupied Tibet.

As Beijing intensifies its assault on Tibetan identity through the implementation of the new National Law on Ethnic Unity and Progress, the international community cannot remain silent.

Lobga Rangzen’s final message was a call for unity, for renewed commitment to the Tibetan movement, and for all of us in exile to use the freedoms we have to stand with those who cannot speak freely inside Tibet.

We honour his lifelong commitment by continuing the work for a free Tibet.
