Natural dye with us (and more!) at our Fun with Food Waste event!

Fun with Food Waste is our first event of three Summer Solstice Week events at all three Berkeley Farmers’ Markets during the last week of June.

We’ll be kicking off summer with the extraction of gorgeous hues from those browning outer cabbage leaves, that turmeric powder in our spice drawer that we still haven’t touched, and more. Make your own design on free pre-mordanted scrap fabric or purchase a limited edition Ecology Center bandana to dye.

This event will also feature a scrappy, zero-waste food demo featuring former chef and current BFM program manager Daniel McChesney-Young, as well as an Ecology Center Store pop-up! Bring your reusable containers to take advantage of a mini bulk refill center.

See you Tuesday June 23rd, 2026 at the South Berkeley Farmers’ Market! 🌞
