I shared a meal with Yakob Ahmed, the director of ReachAnother Ethiopia, and an incredible 7-year-old girl. She was born with Spina Bifida, uses a wheelchair, and is absolutely thriving in her local school and loves to sing. Fifteen years ago, children with neural tube defects here were often considered a "lost cause". Today, she has a full, bright life ahead of her. Right next to her sat her healthy baby brother. His health is a massive victory for prevention—his mother took folic acid before her pregnancy because of the localized awareness campaigns running on the ground here. When ReachAnother began in 2009, Ethiopia had only one neurosurgeon for 90 million people. Today, there are over 100 local neurosurgeons across the country’s Centers of Excellence. This is true Ethiopian self-reliance in action. I am honored to capture this 15-year legacy on film. 🎬❤️

From Oregon to Ethiopia: The Next Act Begins. ✈️🌍

After a grueling 40 hours in transit and navigating airports to get here, the exhaustion was real. But the moment we stepped into the heart of Ethiopia, everything shifted. I was uplifted by the soft-spoken, kind, and caring people of Addis Ababa.

Wahoo Films is officially on the ground to film the next vital chapter of the ReachAnother Foundation legacy story. We are deeply honored to document their life-saving mission: providing critical neurosurgery and clinical care to newborns with spina bifida and hydrocephalus across the country.
