A homeowner here in Bend swears this happened, and the story was too good not to share.

ManUp Special: The Bend Treasure Tale

Meet Tom. Average guy, average house in Central Oregon, above-average curiosity. One Saturday afternoon, he's replacing the foam insulation of his crawlspace hatch when he notices below something odd-that doesn't quite sit right.

He goes down to check it out.

Underneath. An old wooden chest. Dusty. Locked.

The kind of thing that makes your heart race because you've seen enough movies to know what comes next…
Tom's hands shake as he pries back the rusty lock. He lifts the lid slowly, dramatically, like he's about to discover gold coins or ancient artifacts or—

Board games…

A stack of vintage board games from the 1970s. Monopoly. Scrabble. Sorry. And tucked between them, a handwritten note on yellowed paper:

"To whoever finds this: Stop looking for treasure out there. The real treasure is time spent together. Play a game. Laugh. Argue over house rules. Make memories. That's the good stuff. - The Hendersons, 1978"

Tom sat back on his heels and laughed. Then he called his kids downstairs, dusted off that old Monopoly board, and spent the evening arguing about Free Parking rules just like the Hendersons probably did decades ago.

The chest? They cleaned and renovated it, just like they did their home. It sits as a reminder that the best treasures aren't hidden-they're happening right now, in the homes we live in and the time we spend together.

Story time is family time. And family time is best spent together at home-where cherished memories are created.
