Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I decided to do a little research on what this day was really about and was shocked to discover it wasn't about people just going out, getting drunk, and making poor decisions :D

To summarize what I found out so you don't have to go track it down yourself (even though google is pretty easy :) )

St. Patrick was a Britain born to wealthy parents. He was kidnapped by the Irish, and sold into slavery when he was 16.

He was a shepherd in fields for 6 years before he was able to escape.

He walked over 200 miles to escape the Irish shores.

When he returned to Britain he began his religious trainings which lasted for 15 years.

After becoming a priest he returned to Ireland on a mission to bring Christianity to more of the people.

This story was shocking to me to think he wanted to return to the land that kidnapped him and sold him into slavery only to bring the love of God to them.

Well anyway, just something to think about :D
