When temperatures rise, your dog’s safety comes first.

At The Bark Avenue Inn, we adjust outdoor play, provide constant access to fresh water, offer plenty of air-conditioned rest breaks, and closely monitor every pup for signs of heat stress. A little extra caution can make all the difference.

Here are a few simple ways to help keep your best friend safe:
🐶 Walk early in the morning or later in the evening.
💧 Always provide fresh, cool water.
🌳 Make shade a priority during outdoor time.
🚗 Never leave your pet in a parked vehicle, even for a minute.
🔥 Test the pavement before every walk. If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws.

Know the warning signs of heatstroke:
• Excessive panting
• Drooling
• Bright red or pale gums
• Weakness or stumbling
• Vomiting
• Collapse or unresponsiveness

If you suspect heatstroke, move your pet to a cool area, offer small amounts of cool water, apply cool wet towels, and seek veterinary care immediately.
