ASWCC Criminal Justice Leadership Club
Guest Speaker
Wednesday February 19, 2020
Kulshan 222, 4-5pm
Next Wednesday, we have another guest speaker who is a former addict.
Jodi Borrelli was a “Soccer Mom”, president of the PTA, when she became addicted to opioids following treatment for an injured shoulder. Come join us to hear her inspiring story as she describes her journey from soccer mom to a he**in addict, arrested over 20 times, and ultimately making the Washington Most Wanted List as a result of her crimes committed in order to support her drug abuse habit. Hear firsthand her transformation from an intravenous abuser back to a positive and supportive member of society on a dedicated mission to share her story as an inspiration to help others in their struggle with recovery.
Hearing first hand of Jodi's experiences can be applied to law enforcement, addiction counseling, and mental health. Feel free to tell friends and family!

WCSO SWAT Role Playing Opportunity
Wednesday and Thursday, January 22nd and 23rd, 2020, 7-10pm
The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office has offered our Criminal Justice club and program students an opportunity to assist their SWAT team as role players during their training. Interested folks can sign up for one or both days. Role players will meet in the parking lot at 3:45 each day.
Interested students need to send Kylee Johnson, the CJ Club Deputy Chief of Operations, an email at [email protected]. They should include their full name, birthdate, phone number, and email address and which day(s) they are available. Identity info is needed as the Sheriff’s Office may run a background check on participants. Also, those wishing to attend will need to complete a Sheriff’s Office waiver. Waivers will be passed out at the training site. As of now role players must be at least 18 years old. The S.O. may allow under 18 to assist if a parent/guardian signs their waiver; however, this has not yet been confirmed.
This is a great opportunity to develop community service hours as well as network with law enforcement professionals. We will be supporting an agency that has provided strong support to our club and Criminal Justice program.
