Yesterday I attended the WSCPA Women’s Leadership Summit, and one theme kept coming up throughout the day:

Growth rarely happens when we stay comfortable.

As an introvert, putting myself out there doesn’t always come naturally. But every time I step into a room, attend an event, speak up, or take on something that feels uncomfortable, I notice growth on the other side of it.

One quote from the summit that really stayed with me was:
“Dream big. Set goals. Take action.”

That mindset has shaped so much of my journey.

I’ve always believed that big ideas only become reality when you keep moving forward, even before you feel fully ready.

We also had some really meaningful conversations around leadership, mentorship, sponsorship, and the barriers women still face in leadership roles today.

Very grateful to have been part of such a thoughtful and inspiring day 🤍

Becoming an entrepreneur isn’t exciting all the time
It’s actually… uncomfortable

No one talks about how hard it is to stop thinking like an employee

You go from waiting for direction
to realizing no one is coming to save you

That shift alone will either break you or build you

In this episode, we got real about what it actually takes:

Taking full ownership of your life and business
Realizing no one cares about your title when you’re building something from scratch
Protecting your energy like it’s your most valuable asset

Because if you don’t
your business will start running you

This one is honest, a little uncomfortable, and probably something you need to hear right now

If you’re in that in-between phase or already in it and feeling the pressure
you’re not alone in this

What was the hardest mindset shift for you?

Most businesses I see right now are trying to grow with this problem

I’ve been seeing this a lot lately

Businesses pushing for growth
more revenue, more clients

But underneath, the foundation isn’t fully there

It shows up in ways people don’t catch right away

tight margins
sales tax sitting in their account like it’s theirs
multiple businesses with no real structure

On the surface, everything looks fine

Until they try to grow

That’s when things start to feel tight
unclear
harder than they should be

Growth doesn’t fix this
it makes it more obvious

If your business is growing but something isn’t adding up

you can book a call with me and we’ll take a closer look

If your books aren’t up to date going into Q2
this is where it starts showing up

Not in revenue
but in your cash and margins

I see this across service-based businesses every month

Revenue looks fine
but no one can clearly explain where the money is going

especially once you’re bringing in consistent monthly revenue

At that point
it’s not just bookkeeping

It’s a lack of oversight

I’m taking on a few bookkeeping clients right now

If your books aren’t up to date
this needs to be cleaned up before it compounds

Everyone talks about starting a business

No one talks about what it actually feels like after

When you’re in it

When clients depend on you
When revenue isn’t consistent yet
but you still have to show up like everything is fine

When every decision feels like it matters more than it should

And even when things are working
you still feel that pressure in the background

Because there’s no real off switch

This episode is a real look at what running an accounting firm actually feels like

The invisible work
the emotional weight
and how we’re thinking about growth without burning out

If you’re building something right now, you’ll feel this one

Episode 25 is now live. Listen on Spotify or Apple Podcasts.

Most business owners don’t need more bookkeeping.

They need someone who can tell them what’s actually going on.

I’ve reviewed financials where revenue looks strong on paper
but cash is tight
margins are unclear
and no one can explain where the money is going

That’s not a bookkeeping issue
That’s a visibility problem

And it usually comes down to:
uncontrolled spending
pricing that hasn’t kept up
or money leaking in places no one is watching

At a certain level, clean books aren’t enough

If your numbers aren’t helping you make decisions
they’re holding you back

The shift happens when you stop asking
“Are my books done?”
and start asking
“What are my numbers telling me to fix?”

If you’re doing multiple six figures and something isn’t adding up, let’s take a closer look.
