Foundations offers individualized and small group literacy intervention and enrichment for pre-k through 8th grade, as well as explicit instruction in executive functioning/study skills and social thinking/problem solving skills development. As a certified general and special education teacher, as well as a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology, Ms. Suminski has over twenty-six years of experie
nce providing direct support to children and young adults ages 3 through high school, as well as providing consultation and training to their parents and teachers.
She is highly experienced in the area of reading and writing instruction. Her extensive training includes Orton-Gillingham research-based instruction through the Neuhaus Education Center (Basic Language Skills; Concepts in Literacy) training in the science of reading and early literacy instruction, developing meta-cognitive skills necessary for comprehension and analysis of more complex text, advanced written composition, and social problem solving skills. Additional training and curriculum experience includes Social Thinking and Handwriting Without Tears. Suminski, as it is an amazing opportunity to set the stage for success and to cultivate a love for learning. Currently, Mrs. Suminski works as a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology in Cy-Fair ISD. She further provides private prescriptive academic instruction after school hours and during the summer months. No matter what professional hat she is wearing, Ms. Suminski considers herself, first and foremost, a passionate advocate for children and seeks to empower her students with knowledge and self-confidence.
