Your body whispers before it screams.
Learn the signs.

Gene expression, influenced by both DNA and epigenetics, affects emotional regulation and stress responses across generations (Meaney & Szyf, 2005). Trauma-induced epigenetic changes, such as altered DNA methylation, have been observed in descendants of Holocaust survivors (Yehuda et al., 2016) and animals exposed to fear-conditioning (Dias & Ressler, 2014). Variations in 5-HTTLPR (serotonin transport) and COMT (dopamine regulation) genes also contribute to inherited anxiety and mood disorders (Caspi et al., 2003).

So how do we work with this? 👇🏻

Somatic Therapy & Polyvagal Work:

Breathwork and vagal toning regulate nervous system responses (Porges, 2011).

Mindfulness & Meditation: Practices like visualization reduce stress-related gene expression (Kaliman et al., 2014).

Lifestyle Factors: Exercise, diet, and sleep impact gene expression (Sapolsky, 2004).

While genetics shapes emotional responses, healing interventions can rewire inherited patterns, fostering resilience.
