MYTH: Magnesium is magnesium.
FACT: Different forms of magnesium serve different purposes.
Choosing the right supplement isn’t about buying the most popular product.
It’s about choosing the one that matches your goals.
That’s why I rarely recommend the exact same supplement to every patient.
✨ Functional medicine is personalized medicine.
👇 What’s one supplement myth you’d like me to tackle next?

Magnesium is one of the supplements I recommend most often—but not everyone needs the same form.
Different types of magnesium support different goals:
😴 Glycinate → relaxation & sleep
💪 Malate → muscle recovery & energy
🚽 Citrate → occasional constipation
🧠 L-threonate → cognitive support
The best magnesium isn’t the one everyone else is taking.
It’s the one that’s appropriate for your body and your goals.

You were told your labs are “normal”… but do you know what was actually checked? 👀
A standard lab panel can give us useful information—but sometimes it doesn’t tell the whole story.
Here are 5 labs I wish more women knew to ask about:
✨ Fasting insulin — can help identify early changes in insulin sensitivity, even when fasting glucose and A1c still look normal.
✨ Ferritin — gives us information about your iron stores, which can be relevant when evaluating symptoms like fatigue or hair shedding.
✨ Vitamin D — plays a role in bone health, immune function, and overall health.
✨ hs-CRP — a marker that can provide information about systemic inflammation and cardiovascular risk.
✨ ApoB — helps estimate the number of atherogenic lipoprotein particles and can add important context to a standard cholesterol panel.
Does everyone need every one of these labs? No.
That’s where individualized care matters.
The goal isn’t to order more labs just for the sake of having more data. It’s to order the right labs based on your symptoms, health history, and individual risk factors—then interpret them in the context of the whole person.

Which of these have you never had checked?

Blood sugar and insulin are often used interchangeably—but they’re actually two very different things.
Think of it this way:
🩸 Blood sugar is the amount of glucose circulating in your bloodstream.
🔑 Insulin is the hormone that helps move that glucose into your cells to be used for energy.
Here’s the important part…
Your blood sugar can stay completely normal while your body is producing more and more insulin behind the scenes to keep it there.
That’s one reason why I often include fasting insulin in a functional medicine workup—not just fasting glucose or an A1c.
Earlier clues often give us the opportunity to intervene before more significant metabolic dysfunction develops.

✨ “Your labs are normal.”
It’s one of the most common things I hear from new patients.
Yet so many people continue to struggle with fatigue, brain fog, stubborn weight, low libido, mood changes, irregular cycles, poor sleep, or simply feeling like themselves.
Here’s the part that’s often misunderstood:
“Normal” doesn’t always mean “optimal.”
Standard reference ranges are designed to help identify disease—not necessarily to determine whether your body is functioning at its best or explain why you’re experiencing symptoms.
At Busy Life Wellness, we look beyond individual lab values. We consider your symptoms, health history, lifestyle, nutrition, stress, hormones, and the bigger picture to uncover potential root causes—not just treat the number on a lab report.
Because at the end of the day…
I don’t treat lab numbers. I treat people. 🤍
👇 Have you ever been told your labs were “normal,” but you still knew something wasn’t right?
I’d love to hear your experience in the comments.

Tesamorelin isn’t as well known as GLP-1 medications—but it’s becoming a topic of interest in conversations about body composition and metabolic health. 👀
Many people assume changes in body composition are simply a matter of eating less and exercising more.
The reality is that factors like hormones, muscle mass, recovery, sleep, and metabolism all play a role.
For the right candidate, tesamorelin may be one tool to support a personalized metabolic health plan. It’s not a quick fix, and it’s not appropriate for everyone—but it’s another example of why individualized care matters.
The goal isn’t just a lower number on the scale.
It’s building a healthier, stronger body that supports you for the long term.

Glutathione is often called the body’s “master antioxidant”—but many people have never heard of it. 👀
Your body naturally produces glutathione to help protect cells from oxidative stress and support normal detoxification pathways.
The challenge?
Stress, illness, environmental exposures, poor sleep, and aging can all impact glutathione levels over time.
While it may not get as much attention as some wellness trends, glutathione plays an important role in overall cellular health and recovery.
✨ One of the most important things happening behind the scenes in your body every day.

NAD+ is one of those things you’ve probably heard people talking about… but what is it, exactly? 👀
NAD+ is involved in cellular energy production and plays a role in how our cells function, repair, and recover.
Many people seek NAD+ support for things like:
✨ Energy
✨ Focus
✨ Recovery
✨ Healthy aging
It’s not a magic fix, and it’s certainly not a substitute for sleep, nutrition, movement, or stress management.
But for the right person, it may be a valuable tool as part of a bigger wellness strategy.

Many women assume symptoms like:
• brain fog
• fatigue
• poor sleep
• weight changes
• low libido
are simply part of getting older.
Sometimes they are.
But sometimes they’re clues.
Hormonal changes.
Chronic stress.
Insulin resistance.
Nutrient deficiencies.
Poor recovery.
You shouldn’t have to settle for:
“I guess this is just how I feel now.”
Getting older is inevitable.
Feeling awful isn’t.
Sometimes it’s worth looking a little deeper. 🤍
One of the most common misconceptions I hear is that everyone should continue increasing their GLP-1 dose indefinitely.
Not necessarily.
The goal isn’t the highest dose.
It’s the lowest effective dose.
For many people, that means:
✔ meaningful results
✔ fewer side effects
✔ adequate nutrition
✔ muscle preservation
✔ long-term sustainability
Every person responds differently, which is why individualized care matters.
