Black History Moment β€” June 12

On June 12, 1963, civil rights leader Medgar Evers was assassinated in his own driveway in Jackson, Mississippi.

Evers was Mississippi’s first NAACP field secretary, a World War II veteran, and a fearless voice for justice. He fought for voting rights, investigated racial violence, organized boycotts, and helped advance the integration of the University of Mississippi.

He was only 37 years old.

His blood became part of the price paid for freedom, dignity, and equality. His death helped stir the conscience of a nation and strengthened the push toward the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Today, we remember Medgar Evers β€” not just as a victim of hate, but as a soldier, servant, husband, father, and freedom fighter. Highlight
