BREAC is comprised of physicians, attorneys, therapists, business owners, but most importantly, mothers. Prior to forming the coalition, one mom was able to donate 10,000 shoes through the vendors of her local shoe store. Another mom helped to create the medical triage area of Celtic Studios and River Center shelters, eventually becoming one of the medical leads for River Center. Another located three hundred evacuees at a motel who were not receiving aid from other organizations, and coordinated the delivery of 1,500 meals, as well as clothing, shoes, and toiletries. Two moms collected corporate donations and delivered them directly to those affected. Finally, one coordinated the preparation of 45,000 meals for days following the flood, through her family's local culinary school. As a coalition, these women have come together to help the Livingston Parish School system and Mighty Moms to ensure that their FullTummy Bag Program continues until they can get back on their feet. They have also helped get over 100 kids off the floor by providing mattresses. Daily, they strive to identify individuals and groups who need assistance. All of their proceeds are donated to those in need, as they operate on a purely volunteer basis. BREAC's long term goal is to provide aid to other communities in times of crisis.
