It is with great sadness that we share the news of Deacon Pete’s passing. May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed through the Mercy of God Rest in Eternal Peace.

It is with sadness that the Diocese of Baton Rouge announces the death of Deacon Peter Walsh, a retired deacon of the Diocese of Baton Rouge, who served previously as the Deacon Assistant at St. Patrick Church in Baton Rouge and St. Thomas More Church in Baton Rouge. He passed away on Sunday, 21 June 2026 after a recent illness.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him!

Funeral arrangements are pending and will be communicated once they are completed.

St. Patrick parishioner, Jeremy Chiasson has been in seminary formation for the past 7 years. He entered the seminary in 2019 at the age of 18 and spent 3 years at St. Joseph Seminary College where he received a Bachelors Degree in Philosophy. He then spent one year at Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Baton Rouge with Fr. Joshua Johnson to focus on parish life and the “behind the scenes” life of a priest. Jeremy is currently in formation at Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans, pursuing a Masters of Divinity.
