Research on Automated Plankton Identification
In situ imaging systems are emerging as effective tools for quantifying the distributions and abundances of plankton. At the same time, laboratory techniques that digitize the contents of preserved or live plankton samples are in widespread use. Both techniques require automated classification techniques to deal with the enormous volume of digital data they produce. RAPID is an international collaboration to advance our capacity to use and develop automated plankton classification tools.
