Emma’s progress is a powerful reminder of what consistent therapy, family support, and hard work can achieve. 💛

When Emma began therapy, she had over 75 different sound errors, which made her speech difficult for others to understand.

At her recent re-evaluation using standardized articulation testing, the results showed tremendous improvement:

✨ Sound errors reduced from 75+ to just 8
✨ Percentile rank increased from below the 0.01 percentile to the 25th percentile

Even more importantly, these gains are showing up in her everyday speech across environments, not just in therapy sessions.

A huge part of this success belongs to Emma’s family. They consistently completed weekly home programs, actively participated in therapy, and supported carryover of strategies at home. Speech therapy progress doesn’t happen in the therapy room alone. Our role as clinicians is to give families the tools, and Emma’s family put those tools into action.

Her speech is clearer, her confidence is growing, and her hard work is paying off.

We are incredibly proud of Emma and her dedication! 👏

Language therapy often looks like play, and that’s exactly the point. Play motivates, encourages turn-taking and labeling, and helps little ones practice communication naturally. Today, sweet Dowie made great strides, practicing his expressive language skills through playful, meaningful activities. With our SLPs, learning happens in ways that are fun, engaging, and build real-life communication skills.

👅 Quick check-in: Where is your tongue resting right now?

Most people don’t realize this, but the ideal resting position for the tongue is gently suctioned to the roof of the mouth, with the tip resting just behind the top front teeth (not pushing on them), and the lips closed.

Why does this matter?
✅ Breathing: Proper tongue posture supports nasal breathing and helps keep the airway open. A low or forward tongue can contribute to mouth breathing and airway restriction.
✅ Facial growth & development: In children, consistent tongue-to-palate contact provides natural support for the jaw, guiding healthy facial growth. In adults, it helps maintain oral posture and stability.
✅ Oral function: Correct tongue rest posture supports efficient swallowing, speech clarity, and overall oral muscle balance.

If you or your child's tongue is resting low or against the teeth, it may be time to bring awareness to this habit AND we can help! Small changes, practiced consistently, can make a big difference over time.
