We wanted to give everyone an update on the sweet dog that was left outside Parish Pets yesterday morning.

As soon as we found him, we began working with a local rescue to get him to safety. While those arrangements were being made, someone in the community contacted Animal Control. They arrived before the rescue was able to pick him up.

During the attempt to safely load him, he unfortunately became frightened and got loose.

This is exactly why we ask that you please do not leave animals at our store. We are not a shelter or rescue, and situations like this can quickly become stressful and dangerous for an already scared animal. Had we been contacted beforehand, or had the dog been surrendered directly to a shelter or rescue, this entire situation could have been handled much more safely and with far less risk to him.

And just as a reminder, our property is monitored by an extensive security camera system. If you step onto our property, you should expect that your actions are being recorded. We will always provide any relevant footage to the appropriate authorities when necessary.

If you happen to see this dog, please contact Animal Control immediately and avoid chasing him, as that may cause him to run farther. Our biggest concern right now is that he is found safe.
