Selective neurolysis is a procedure where Dr. Hetzler identifies 20-30 small branches of the facial nerve, then selectively cuts them to reduce the effects of facial synkinesis. Patients will still need Botox but their requirement should be much less. Our multidisciplinary team approaches each patient individually for a personal plan which may or may not include surgery. Dr. Morris and Dr. Hetzler had the privilege of taking care of an infant with a very rare cleft combination. This sweet baby had a fairly difficult, bilateral cleft lip and palate, as well as a superimposed, very rare, atypical facial cleft. Given the complexity of the pathology and the uniqueness of the presentation, our team pulled the power of both brains, a collective 25 years of faculty experience, three fellowships between them, to invest in the best outcome for this sweet child. This is not unusual for us. We believe in the setting of complex, tertiary level care, our patients deserve the best of us. Often that means that the whole team will stand up.

We are so thankful that our sweet patient allowed us to share her results from just one treatment with Sciton Halo technology. Don’t get us wrong, we love BBL as much as everyone else.
