💙 Sometimes, the most important calls aren’t about writing tickets—they’re about saving lives.
When a concerned citizen reported a horse abandoned in the desert, Barstow CHP officers responded.
They found a frightened, severely malnourished horse that had clearly been neglected. She kept her distance at first, unsure if she could trust anyone.
One of our officers patiently waited with her, speaking softly and offering an apple. Little by little, her fear turned into trust. She finally allowed the officer to pet her, and in that moment, it became clear she wasn’t just another call for service—she was a life that deserved a second chance.
Our officers contacted a local horse rescue, where she was safely released into caring hands. Thanks to one person’s decision to make a phone call and the compassion shown by responding officers, this beautiful horse now has the opportunity for the future she deserves.
