The Princess of Wales will travel to Italy tomorrow for a two-day visit to learn about the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood development 🇮🇹✨

The Princess of Wales is expected to arrive at Reggio Emilia's town hall around noon for a formal welcome. In Piazza Prampolini, Catherine will be greeted by Reggio Emilia’s mayor, Marco Massari. The Princess will then greet the crowds before entering the Sala del Tricolore to receive honours privately.

Mayor Massari will also hold an official meeting with the princess, accompanied by historical figures such as Eletta Bertani and Ione Bartoli, pioneers of the Reggio Children system in the 1960s.

After leaving town hall, the Princess of Wales will visit the Loris Malaguzzi International Center, headquarters of the Reggio Emilia Approach.

On Thursday, the Princess of Wales will visit the ReMida Creative Recycling Centre and a nursery and preschool in the city.

To mark Mental Health Awareness Week, the Prince of Wales is officially opening James’ Place Birmingham, highlighting the free, life-saving support the charity’s newest centre is providing to men in suicidal crisis. The service is specifically designed for men, who are ‘three times more likely to die by su***de than women.’

The new centre offers rapid, professional therapy that addresses the root causes of suicidal crisis. Su***de is the single leading cause of death for men under 352 & in 2024, 560 deaths by su***de were registered in the West Midlands, 415 of these (74%) were men.

In October, James’ Place became one of five founding partners of the new National Su***de Prevention Network (NSPN), established by The Royal Foundation of The Prince & Princess of Wales to drive lasting change to how su***de is understood and prevented across the United Kingdom. Through the Network, funding from The Royal Foundation is supporting James’ Place to pilot two new satellite services over 12 months in the North East & North West of England, expanding access to free, life-saving therapy in community-based settings.

During the visit, Prince William will tour the new centre & meet with staff, local partners & service users who have been supported by James’ Place at its other locations. HRH will also meet other fellow NSPN innovation partners, including Papyrus, MindOUT, & The National Su***de Prevention Alliance (NSPA) to discuss what is working across the Network & share key learnings.
